Folk singer Weyes Blood has just released a Rough Trade session comprised of four tracks off her latest album Titanic Rising. These new takes are stripped-back, acoustic versions, mainly featuring just one piano or guitar at a time, leaving Weyes' vocal to take centre stage. The last track from the EP 'Wild Time' uses a wholesome acoustic guitar to accompany the vocals. Weyes Blood's vocals are hauntingly deep, her melodies unusual and creative whilst maintaining a popiness that's easy on the ears. The vocal harmonies on the line "It's a wild time to be alive" are enigmatically beautiful. The outro features a vintage sounding organ which provides closure to the song, along with a surprising, yet seamless vocal resolution from Weyes Blood. -Ellie Rose-Davies
